I, too, now suspect that NoteMap will not be upgraded.

GrandView is a DOS program and, while wonderful, is no longer available.  If you are willing to use DOS, there are old versions of PC Outline available on the Web.  PC Outline was the forerunner of GV and was very popular with attorneys and others.

You might wish to look at Inspiration (http://www.inspiration.com), which is aimed at high school students, but has some nice features.

Maxthink in DOS was used by a great many lawyers.  A Windows version was finally developed.  I tried it, but decided it was too “clunky” and varied too much from standard Windows conventions (http://www.maxthink.net or com?).

If you expect to collect a lot of information from the Web, you MUST try MyBase (http://www.wjjsoft.com).

If a 2-pane PIM is of interest, try the new Jot+ ver. 3 (http://www.kingstairs.com).

Others to try are Maple Pro (http://www.crystaloffice.com), Golden Notes (http://www.tgslabs.com), TreePad (http://www.treepad.com), and KeyNote, which is free (http://www.tranglos.com/free/index.html).

If you want to be able to establish links between terms, look at Zoot (http://www.zootsoftware.com).  I don’t think it will handle graphics.  Another one to try is The Literary Machine, which is rather complex, but for now at a VERY good price. (Search for Web site using Google.)

Important.  If you expect to use whatever package you choose to print, rather than just organize information, be sure to test it for printing before you buy it.  Also, old DOS programs may not have drivers for current printers, or may be limited in what they casn print on current printers.

Many of these have user groups at groups.yahoo.com.

Finally, Google for appropriate word combinations.
