Have tried a large number of outliners, PIMS etc. for the Mac (20+), but now have come across a small program that really amazes me, Thinker from Poor Person Software (http://www.webcom.com/~thinker/).
Although its interface leaves a lot to be desired, its abilities seem unequalled. Just one example: Thinker lets you have so-called see-thru links to other (Thinker or otherwise!) documents, and does this more elegantly than any other software I have tried.
Outlining is good, hypertext terrific.
