I’d like to clear up a few things about my original posting.

1) I didn’t criticize Symantec, here or on Ric Ford’s site.

2) I asked for altruistic reasons—I can contribute to work on an open source MORE. I have recommended it for years, and would like to keep doing so. Open source is a way, independent of Apple’s benevolence, to allow it to survive new OS releases.

3) It seems reasonable to ask, “If Symantec sees little enough commercial value in MORE that they’re willing to release the binary version, might they not also consider releasing the source?” There may be legal, commercial, or other reasons why this isn’t feasible, but surely the question isn’t unfair?
