Don’t know what to say about this other than version 11 is out of beta. Even the upgrade seems very overpriced. The list of new features may be found here:

I admit to having a soft spot for Info Select. Venerable is the word that comes to mind. My needs have grown to outstrip most of its capabilities. It seems that time has passed Info Select by.

I was very much into InfoSelect for years until I switched to the Mac in 2006-7. It was a great product. I would not be using it today because they have not come out with a compatible mobile app, although they said an Android one was in the works.

I always hope they do well, but I was getting worried they may not be updating until I saw the beta discussed on the IS mail list. Glad to see they are still going.

Like you, I have a soft spot for InfoSelect. It has a combination of features that others don’t have. And—at least from my experience with earlier versions—it has a lightning fast search.

However, I think they are crazy with their pricing model. If the app cost $40, I’d probably succumb to my CRIMP and get it. But IS costs twice that just for a one-year subscription. And, by the way, their subscription model is the worst because once you stop pay the annual extortion fee, IS switches to read-only mode.

And they seem to have ignored any kind of integration with note apps that might make it more useful.

It will be interesting to see if there is ever an IS 12.

Hi Steve:

I did a quick trial to see what was added and if it was of any use. Discounting the UI changes (a matter of taste), it seems that few additions would be of use to me. The troubling thing is that several features which were in IS 2007, but have been removed. For example, you can no longer search for colors and you no longer have the option to have attachments stored in the file or in a sub directory. And there are inconsistencies such as displaying a file as an attachment in the selector but in the note pane, it shows up as a shortcut.

I don’t like subscriptions and don’t mind paying a fair price for software. But without significant improvements it seems like gouging to charge $179.00 for an upgrade and $279.00 for a new user. My needs and workflow have changed and become more demanding. Unlesss I am missing something, I see nothing in this update that would appeal to me.

How does Micro Logic expect to gain new users. or is their established base so large and loyal that they would upgrade? I don’t get it.
