I’m moving this to a new topic.

I just turned off “in-feed ads,” which is described as ads that appear in “lists of articles or products.” I already had “in-article ads” turned off, so I assumed no ads would ever appear in the middle of the content. Let’s hope this new setting makes things less obtrusive.

Let me know if it improves.

Chris, if you wanted to move this forum into an ad-free subscription service (maybe in conjunction with modern forum software like Discourse), I would be first in line.  Outliner Software is far more valuable to me than many of the products discussed.  For one reason—the advice here has prevented me from making bad decisions about buying software, saving me more than what a subscription would cost.

I mainly read this site in Safari with ad blocking, so there’s no ad revenue from my use of the site.  Another reason to change to a subscription or donationware model.

Just my 2cents.

I like the current nostalgic minimal forumware. Cute & easy on the eye. As for everything else, that’s just fine too IMHO.

If you start charging for access to the forum, I imagine the majority of users (most of whom I doubt ever post) will just stop using the forum. It seems more sensible to provide a means to donate, voluntarily. I’d be glad to donate, but I would not pay for a subscription (there’s just not enough “meat” here to justify one).

FWIW I’ve never seen ads in forum messages on this site. I see ads in the green sidebar on the left. Chrome, Win10, same on 4 machines.
I used to use an adblocker but find I don’t need it as much lately and sometimes they ironically seem to slow down page loading.

I look at this forum pretty regularly, and find it valuable. I would love to say I’d pay for a subscription, but probably would not, if only because all the other forums I know of are free. Sorry :(
