When I switched back to the Mac platform around 2008, one of the note managers I tried was called Caboodle. If memory serves me right, it was a reasonably good app, but didn’t really fill my needs—I’m a CRIMPer after all. I used to check in on it from time to time, and development appeared to grind to a halt and I forgot all about it. Then, yesterday I saw that version 2.0 was just released!

The key is that there is a new developer. The app was acquired by Before Dawn Solutions. Unlike so many of these instances where a successful app is acquired by a new developer and basically nothing happens, Before Dawn Solutions had done a rewrite of the code before the acquisition was announced. That bodes well for future development, and is how these transitions should take place (Brainstorm, Voodoopad—take note). You can read about it here:

This isn’t an endorsement or anything like that. Just a ray of hope for all those apps that have intrigued us over the years, but have seemed to go dormant.
