I remember a while back seeing this free portable rich text editor (just one single exe) floating around.  I believe it might have been BauerApps (RightNote developer) behind it and they had it available as freeware on their site but I can’t find it anymore.  I find it was extremely fast and had pretty advanced table formatting. Does anyone still have it?

I don’t remember Bauerapps offering anything but Rightnote and Compare Advance. I even checked their web page back to ‘07 with WayBackMachine.

Could you maybe be thinking of Qjot? It’s no longer developed but is extremely good for what it is - a portable RTE. Originally an xtort project, they no longer host downloads, but you can find it at Downloads.com http://download.cnet.com/QJot/3000-2079_4-10434538.html or Major Geeks http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/qjot.html . I use it quite often.

There’s also Q10 which is a distraction-free single-executable RTE: http://www.baara.com/q10/ Not sure on table support.

Then, there is Atlantis. It’s portable version is very lightweight and has table support, but it’s not free. http://www.atlantiswordprocessor.com/en/

Hope the above is of some help - if maybe only to trigger a memory on the software you’re looking for. Good luck!

It is unlikely that you’re thinking of Jarte, but just in case I’ll toss it out there:

Jarte is an interesting, feature rich word processor with a free edition, as well as a portable edition.
