I have been intrigued enough by Miroslav Rajcic’s Notecase Pro to plunk down enough money for a lifetime license, all platforms. And I have to say that I’m liking it a lot. I’m a Linux user, and this streamlined, two pane outliner has added, in just a few months:

* hoisting
* mark and gather
* word count and spell check
* printing

I’m not sure what all you have to go through to get it to work on the Mac or Windows, but what I’ve liked about this is how simple and straightforward it is. Recommended.

They actually have a Windows version, which feels rather rudimentary and not polished. The hoisting feature was nice, though.

Just a note for the file, to say that Notecase Pro now has a discussion group at Google:
http://groups.google.com/group/notecase-pro

The developer is very dedicated and open to suggestions, while safeguarding the program from becoming bloatware.

For the programmers in the forum, Notecase Pro’s latest build offers syntax highlighting for a very large number of languages.

What makes this even more powerful is that syntax highlighting can be set by node, which means that one can have C++, Ruby, HTML and anything else in the same Notecase file, all with their respective highlights.
