My Hyper Plan software isn’t an outliner (it stores text in a 2D colored card view) but it allows sophisticated filtering and you can store filters (along with other things) in a ‘stored view’. You can then easily change between stored views to see different visualizations of your information.

Does that qualify it under ‘The Visual Kind’? It runs natively on Windows and Mac.

I can’t seem to find Things (https://culturedcode.com), which I think belongs under 2.2. The Taskfabric family of applications (http://taskfabric.com, for OSX, iOS, Android, Windows and Web) probably also belongs somewhere in the list, but I’m unsure where.

...as does Todo (http://www.appigo.com, for OSX, iOS and the Web).
