... which means that for Chrome users, Gingko is now usable offline.

I’m almost regretting getting rid of Chrome. Most Chrome extensions run in Opera, too, but not apps, unfortunately. And there’s no way I’m restoring my underlying Chrome framework. Well, almost no way… CRIMP! CRIMP! CRIMP!

In Adriano Ferrari’s announcement, speaking of offline Gingko, he says:

“I will say, it’s not perfect (slow to load, manual conflict resolution, only works in Chrome, etc). But all of these issues will be addressed in due time.”

I take that to mean, among other things, that offline mode will eventually be available without Chrome.

Thanks for the heads-up. Where was this announced? I find no trace of it anywhere. Just checked the Chrome Web Store and couldn’t find an offline app there.

Another option might be to get a Chromebook (as you once suggested to me!). Check out the new Dell Chromebook 13 that is coming out ;)

Isn’t there more integration coming between Firefox and Chrome? I read somewhere that FF will start to support Chrome extensions. Though I don’t know if that applies to Chrome apps (probably not).

Adriano Ferrari sends out periodic announcements about Gingko via MailChimp.

I don’t remember what I might have done to get on that list, but here is a link to the latest announcement as it currently exists on the MailChimp server:
