There’s been a couple of mentions of LeaderTask recently.  On July 10th, they announced that the application is now free.  The free version has full standalone functionality - no crippled features, time/trial limitations, etc.  Free license includes future updates also.

Users wanting cloud and mobile synch or group/collab features can pay to upgrade to a Premium account.

A note of interest is that that are close to release of a Mac version.  This will result in LeaderTask being available for Windows, Mac, iPhone/iPad IOS, Android - a pretty impressive assortment of platform choices.  This could make the third license type - business - more attractive for group/shared task and collaboration across business units.

Unfortunately, their English site is not as updated or info-rich as their Russian site - some google translate action is often helpful.  Here’s is the translated version of their announcement:

Thank you for posting this update.  I am still interested in their product and would like to give it a try when I can.  If you see any additional information on their English language pages, it would be great if you could share them.  It is still not clear which file(s) I should download for the portable version, and if it needs to be registered with them.

Thanks,

Ken, I do not think the software needs to be registered with LeaderTask. Regarding your question about the portable edition, I reference the quote from their website.

“Works from a flash drive

“The LeaderTask organizer is not tied to Windows. Copy the entire folder with the organizer to a flash drive and carry it with you!”

Hi Jon,

I initially thought it was that simple, but after reading comments on download forums about needing to contact Leadertask via email before being able to use their program, I wondered if some type of activation code was needed, or if the software only ran in trial mode for a limited time.  I do not mean to sound paranoid, but this program seems to have set off some malware programs according to some prior posts, and I have already had my machine at work wiped clean for “phoning home” to somewhere in Eastern Europe.  I am hoping to give it a try as soon as my schedule permits.

No, the latest version is 10.0.1.0 and is apparently free with no activation. You are right to be intrigued by the program, but because of the non-existent import/export facility, I cannot use it.

Go for it if you want to test it out. As I said, I muchprefer to use ToDoList or EPIM for what LeaderTask does.
