Looks like BDJ extended the discount another day.

I bumped into a Vimeo video today from Rael Bauer - the author of RightNote.  In the video, he gives a really nice short demo of using integration between EverNote and RightNote with the end result of creating an outline of content with an auto-generated table of contents.  When I have demo’d the app in the past, I had never tried out the Side-by-Side view he uses in the demo.  Quite a nice feature for organizing a “pile” of things collected into a structure, and the thumbmail is a nice element for a visual reminder of the item content.  I’ve also found some references to the eBook feature, which support HTML-style ebook output so that once you organize a structure as done in the demo, you could then publish it to a website for outside-app access.  Rael has been improving RightNote steadily over time and it really does have a nice polished feel to it.  My biggest wish was that it had an item tagging engine (ala Zoot) that would enable rule-based tagging of items.

But all in all, my experience with it (mostly the freebie version) is that it is a well designed, stable and capable info collection and organization tool.  With the Pro version on BDJ for $30, it’s time for me to take a page from Tinderbox’s Mark Bernstein and show my support of a “boutique app”.  I’ll be buying RightNote Pro tonight when I get home….
