Print Edit - in-browser editing of web pages before print or save

I found a wonderful tool called Print Edit that allows easy in-browser editing of web pages (e.g. to remove ads) before printing them, and with the added ability to save the edited page as an MHT (MHTML) file.

I’m using it in Chrome:

But apparently it works even better in Firefox:

By the way, Chrome can be set up to open MHT files:

1. Right-click on an MHT file
2. Select “Open with > Choose default program…”
3. Click the “Browse…” button
4. Navigate to C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\ (fill in your user account name)
5. Select “chrome.exe”, click “Open”
6. Click OK

Thank you for the tip. Print Edit looks like a good option.

Another option is Print Friendly (http://printfriendly.com), which is cross-platform.

Not only these two, but there’s a busy subgenre of services, bookmarklets, and other tools for clean, ad free printing.

I agree, and I’ve used many of them myself.

But what I believe is unique about Print Edit is the ability to save the edited page directly to your file system.

FYI, the developer of Print Edit just notified me of a new update for the Firefox add-on,

“which includes a new feature for editing existing text and inserting new text (inline, as a block, or as a sticky note)”

He also told me that as of the previous version of the Firefox add-on,

“you can configure the ‘Format’ command to apply highlighting (font style, font color, background color) to selected text/elements.”

Fantastic additions, imho :)
