Just discovered this little gem. Going to try it out when I’ve got a spare mo…

Well, that looks interesting.  Thanks for finding it and posting.  With all those little boxes and forms to fill out I wonder what it would be like to use it for more than a small number of entries.  Maybe eventually the author will add a graphical map for associating / linking entries with one another.  But, Goozzee seems to hit a lot of the Zettelkasten buttons.  Looking forward to reading more.

Hi,

I’m the guy developing Goozzee.  Thanks for you interest about it !

I just want to warn you that the last Windows releases are awfully buggy . I recently discovered this bug : it crashes the program if you use it in “single user” mode (which is the default mode when you run it for the first time.)

So if you want to give Goozzee a try on Windows, please download release 0.13.5 right here :  http://sourceforge.net/projects/goozzee/files/goozzee/0.13.5/
It should be much better. The features are about the same as the latest release, except that the reporting system is completely unstable.. But the rest works fine.
The multi-user mode is not affected by this bug, but implies setting up a mysql server.

Concerning your remark about a graphical map, I’m planning to add one, but I guess it won’t become the main way of browsing the data : I think the actual mode is much faster. So the graphical mode would be an optional window, beside the main one…

I designed Goozzee to help me in my work : I’m a sysadmin, and when I need to retrieve some info, it’s mostly in case of emergency, or during a meeting, so I need to retrieve it as fast as possible. I use Goozzee continuously for my work, putting every piece of info into it. In fact, I switched to “no paper”, scanning every document and uploading it into Goozzee. I now have almost 800 topics, 1100 documents, and over 2000 associations. And I retrieve any info in less than a minute.
Hope this explains a bit what Goozzee can do…

If you have question / problem, I’ll be glad to answer / help.

Kind regards !

Hi Michael,

Thanks for posting! When I open it, I find Goozzee is a lot less complex than it looks in screenshots. It’s actually quite light on its feet! I shall play more next week (once current project overload is out of the way). And fortunately, I’m using a Mac ;-)

You’re welcome !!

There is a user manual in the documentation directory delivered with the executable. It might be useful to clarify things (Goozzee has some powerful features that are not obvious at first look..)
And please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any question !

Regrads,
Michel.
