I have downloaded Zettelkastenfrom http://zettelkasten.danielluedecke.de/

The program is simple - but not simplistic, and it looks quite elegant. I can see how it would emulate the analogue zettelkasten system. I will work with it for a while, and write about how it works out.

I have started a new thread to focus on the use of the software itself.

Thank you very much for the heads up!
Here is another one, but a bit pricey: http://www.verzetteln.de/synapsen/index_e.html

I will have a look at both of them.

Thanks so much for Synapsen link. I had not seen the program before, and eagerly downloaded it. Unfortunately I won’t have a chance to do anything with it for a few days.

I also downloaded the PDF manual. Again, a very cursory overview. It seemed the program relies on user applied keywords, and there are other programs which permit that. I suspect I’m missing something.  :)

Thanks again.

I’m really looking forward to this review series: “Baseline for Zettelkasten Software Reviews.” This post is already very informative:

http://christiantietze.de/posts/2014/03/baseline-zettelkasten-software-reviews/

“I’m going to take a close look at applications to find out which are suitable to implement the Zettelkasten note archive. (...)

The current list of applications, in alphabetical order:
ConnectedText
Evernote (platform independent)
DEVONthink (Mac)
Notational Velocity and nvALT (Mac)
NVim (platform independent)
ResophNotes (Windows)
VoodooPad (Mac)
Zkn³ (platform independent)
and a paper-based Zettelkasten”
