Just a heads-up re WizNote:
I could not find this referenced in this forum or the EditGrid list of Outliners.
          http://www.editgrid.com/user/pplandry/List_of_Outliners
It might be going under a different name.
It is new to me anyway, and I am trialling it out. It was referred to in another forum by someone who said it was a killer notetaking app. So I tried it out. He was not far wrong. It seems to be very good.

Features include: (not an exhaustive list by any means)
* a FREE version (there’s a limit on Cloud storage and Cloud function, I think, though am not sure what).
* a VIP version which has a monthly bill of 600 yuen or something.
* a simple-and-easy-to-use desktop application (this is mandatory to use the system and to set up your database and Cloud account).
* a web-based application (so you and selected collaborators can access it from a web browser).
* AES encryption for specified folders/notes.
* a mobile application (*app*) - (I think, but I have not looked at this aspect, yet).
* 3-pane Outliner format.
* internal/external hyperlinking.
* hierarchical Tags.
* Standard word searches and SQL searches.
* saved searches (so you can use the searches as a view across segments of your database).
* an email address (to receive email, but not sure whether it can send any directly).
* plugins including web-clipping tools - “send-toWizNote” - add-ons for Firefox, Chrome and IE (and other browsers).
* capture of selected parts or entire web pages (as HTML, with all rich text and images separately editable in the Outlines.
* in the desktop version, images can be edited instantly via seamless integration with MS Paint, and saved back seamlessly into the Outliner, replacing the image you started with.
* smooth and fast auto-syncing to the Cloud (you have to open up a FREE account to use this), and easy access by collaborators.
* collaborators can be set up as “groups” and can be sent emailed notices of certain events (I don’t understand what exactly, as the emails are in Chinese).
* built-in Import/Export (e.g., even to output CHM help file formats). Some of this seems ro be via plugins, of which there look to me many. I tried a plugin for importing a OneNote notebook, but it was for OneNote 2007 or 2010, not my version 2013, I think. It partially worked, and rather well, at that.
* quite a few more very nifty features, too many to list here and several I have not fully explored yet.

________________________________
It feels like a cross between InfoSelect v8 and MS OneNote 2013, and has some surprisingly intuitive responses. Quite nice to use.
There ae some pros and cons, but this is NOT an evaluation report - I am still exploring/discovering the app.
The biggest difficulty I have found so far was ploughing my way through Google Translate versions of the Chinese websites I had to visit for the main application and its plugins.

*Collected links to download as at 2013-05-18:* (so you don’t have to spend the time I did in finding the latest/current versons).

If anyone is interested, I could set up my WizNote for you to access - it is mostly full of English translations of the Chinese documentation about WizNote.

The website at least looks impressive, but I wasn’t willing to install it.
It seems to require “cloud” connection which, here in China, seems ridiculous.
Firstly, the internet is incredibly slow and unreliable much of the time.
Secondly, I would not want ANY of my data stored on a server in China. You have no idea if the state has demanded some ‘backdoor’ access to all data on their server.

The VIP rates are really crazily high- obviously aimed at cashing-in on the well-heeled businesses in China who don’t known about the plethora of good note-taking and PIM applications that already exist.

It might look good, and offer some good features, but I’d stay far away from it.

This is not to say that developers in mainland China can’t produce a trustworthy product. They can, and MyBase is a very good example of an excellent product with a long history and international user base.

Well, AFAIK, having your data on an US server has similar risks, if you are afraid of the gov. peeking into your notes.
I have no sensitive data on my notes; If I do, there’s always the option of encrypting the note.
Plus not being in China, I don’t think I’d be investigated by their Gov.

This program is the most impressive notetaker I’ve seen in any platform.
Sync is fast enough for me (small notes). I’d love to see an EN forum, it puts onenote and evernote to shame.

I had posted in detail about WizNote on DonationCoderForum: “WizNote (from China http://www.wiz.cn/index.html) - quick look”
https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=2362.msg326466#msg326466

On 2013-05-25 I sent a message to weekly@wiz.cn to let them know Wiz had some fans at DC, and gave a link to this thread.
I hoped something useful might come of it.

On 2013-07-24 I received a reply email from the WizNote website, as follows:
START____________________________________________
dear,
i’m so exciting for receiving your mail, sorry i took so long to reply.
I also think wiz is very interesting, more and more users taking wiz. we have over 2 million users by now. They love wiz, using wiz and discussing wiz eveyday. if you are also interested in wiz , we can take a discunssion for it, and also you can mail us some using experiences . we’ll show them on our “weibo” and website, also if you need ,we can give you the others helps.
    thx!
weekly@wiz.cn
ENDS____________________________________________

On that DCforum, @urlwolf had suggeste an setting up an “EN forum” for WizNote, and in light of the email from weekly@wiz.cn, I have suggested that we do that.

I have duicated/posted all the above here on OutlinerSoftware just to keep the information flowing, but rather than I keep on duplicating stuff across to this forum, could you (the reader) please go to the DC Forum if you would like to find out more about whatever we discover about WizNote. It’s an impressive piece of software and there’s an audience in the DCForum who might be keen to be involved in the discovery - and it would certainly be easier if it was done via collaboration.with the developers at weekly@wiz.cn.

Just for information:
On 2013-12-31 I posted a new section on DonationCoder Forum: WizNote (a PIM from China) - Mini-Review + Provisional User Forum.
URL is: http://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=36909.msg345599#msg345599

Looks like WizNote has been substantially improved over the last few months.
