To the ppl using InfoQube:

Is there a way to clone topics; if not, what is easiest way to link one topic to another?

What is the easiest way to copy a topic and its subtopics to another grid?

Thanks

Daly

By topic, I assume you mean an item, that is a row in a grid, usually shown with a bullet next to the tree-column. I also assume that by cloning you mean to be able to view the same item somewhere else. There are numerous ways:
1- The grid supports hyperlinks, so select some text and right-click to create a hyperlink (Ctrl-K). You can then create a link to 1 or more items, to all items in a folder, a link to open another grid, a link to a file, an outlook item, an email address or a web page. Links can be in the main column (the Item column) or in any other text column.
2- The HTML pane also supports hyperlinks, steps in (1) above can be used there too.
3- Items can have multiple parents, so you can drag-drop the item to another parent (Hold Ctrl if you want to keep the previous parent), then this item will be shown as a child item. Parent-child links are totally free-form, so multiple parent and recursion is allowed. You are not restricted to a “tree” view.

These are the first ones that come to mind. Details here: http://www.sqlnotes.net/drupal5/index.php?q=node/115

Grids are simply mechanisms. So you don’t need to make a copy to have the item (i.e. the topic) appear in 1 or more grids. For example, say you want to do GTD:
1- Create a new item (either in the Inbox grid or through Ctrl-N dialog)
2- If you then assign a due date, the item will automatically also be shown in the Todo grid
3- If you specify that you want to see the same item in the Calendar, you’ll see it there under the date = due date
4- The journal grid will show you all items you’ve entered on any given day, week, month, year
5- In fact, anytime an item fits the criteria of the grid (i.e: grids define filters for items)

Oups… That should read:

Grids are simply “display ” mechanisms.
